Hayward Shoreline Interpretive Center Google Map

From Hayward:

  • Exit 92 at Clawiter/Eden Landing.
  • Go straight at the light, then left onto Breakwater Ave.
  • Follow Breakwater Ave. to the end.

From San Mateo:

  • Exit 92 at Clawiter/Eden Landing.
  • Turn left at the stop sign and another left at the first light.
  • Make a third left at the gas station onto Breakwater Ave.
  • Follow Breakwater Ave. to the end.

Bus:

  • Catch the 83 bus at either Hayward or South Hayward BART.
  • Get off at Clawiter and Breakwater ('76 gas station is across the street).
  • Walk along Breakwater to the right of the gas station parallel to the closest freeway traffic.
  • After approximately 1 mile, you will see the Interpretive Center. It's the last building on the street, a brown wooden building on wooden pier-like stilts.
  • When returning, go to the bus stop across the street from the stop where you got off (goes to either Hayward or South Hayward BART).

Directions to the Visitor Center in Newark:

  • From Highway 84 (at the east end of the Dumbarton Bridge), exit at Thornton Avenue.
  • Travel south on Thornton Avenue for 0.8 miles to the Refuge entrance on the right.
  • Turn right into the Refuge and follow signs to the parking lot.
  • The Visitor Center is located by the first parking lot to your right.

Directions to the Environmental Education Center in Alviso:

  • From I-880 or Highway 101, exit on Highway 237 toward Alviso.
  • Turn north onto Zanker Road.
  • Continue on Zanker Road to the Environmental Education Center entrance road (a sharp right turn at Grand Blvd.)
  • The distance from 237 to the entrance road is 2.1 miles.
